I have taught kindergarten over 31 years and retired at the onset of COVID. At the end of my teaching career, I gave away most of my valued classroom treasures. I missed Teaching reading more than I could have imagined. Fate showed me the opportunity to teach again, and I jumped back into teaching with both feet! Now I am thankfully back in the Saddle again! For me, Kindergarten is a great place to work. My passion is teaching young students to read! My students read to a higher level each year. Perhaps I am part of this equation. I know this would not be possible without the "Bob Books". I started using them to teach reading years ago. My students take them home nightly to read with their parents and then back with me. The few books I presently have are stained and falling apart. There are 5 sets of books, 1 through 50. Each book is full of building blocks that lead to the next level. I have found it is best not to skip around out of order. The students’ progress best when books are read consecutively. It would be such a blessing to have this grant funded giving my students a Bob Book library. The Letter games are what I will be using to help them gain the letter knowledge that is required for reading books.
