Due to the lack of consistency in education over the past couple of years, my students are without the tools required to be a successful student and learner. As their teacher, I want to help them become the confident listener and learner they need to be. One way I am doing this is by having carpet time throughout our day. In order to achieve this, my classroom needs a carpet that is welcoming and accommodating for my students' activities. When we all come together in one place, and at the same level, their confidence begins to soar and their learning improves. Having a classroom carpet will allow my students to have a place to meet for read alouds, new lesson instruction, games, and a calm down area. My hope is for every student to be the most confident student they can be without the struggles they came to me with. I feel like the classroom carpet will help promote the interest needed to maintain their attention and therefore promote active learning.
