One of our main focuses as a school this year was to instill a culture of reading. The materials I have chosen will help my students engage in other forms of reading. Our class already participates in D.E.A.R time, several read alouds daily and I encourage use of our reading nook during centers. Several of my students are showing a strong interest in reading, I believe the listening center will help encourage them to be strong independent readers. The listening center helps encourage all types of leveled learners. The books I chose to go with the center will spark interest for different topics we may not cover in class.
