As a teacher to a large ELL demographic, it is imperative to provide them with good visual aids to help scaffold their learning. What I have in my classroom now is not conducive to that. The whiteboard that is in my room was a quick fix to help get rid of the old chalkboards. These whiteboards were rejects from another school that had been torn down. They are old and over-used. It is difficult to use them for more than magnet space. The markers stain the board, making it tough to use them for modeling math equations or writing examples because it takes so long to erase ,most of the time needing spray to wipe down. The board is also too short to reach my projector, which cancels out the interactive place for learning. Having a new whiteboard for my students to use would help me create a space where more interactive learning could take place. The students would be able to use the whiteboard to model examples for their peers. It would also help me to model and display different visual aids by using it as a backdrop for my projector.
