The above-listed manipulatives, sensory objects, and educational sets will be used to help my students regain lost knowledge and grasp new concepts. Covid has had a devastating impact on all students. In my special needs classroom, my students work hard to grasp new concepts and gain and retain that knowledge. To see my students struggle and to see the regression is heartbreaking. I have also added new students to the mix this year that require more sensory learning concepts and tools.
Sensory play and exploration are vital for my special needs classroom. Sensory exploration has many varied and far-reaching benefits. Students will have the opportunities to improve cognitive growth and motor skills as well as develop social play and interaction skills. It is really all about finding the tools needed to meet each individual student's needs, staying focused, staying stimulated, calming down, relaxed... the list can be endless.
Educational puzzles and learning sets are fun ways to get my students engaged and having fun while learning. I serve students PK through 12th special needs. The benefits and uses of the listed manipulatives are unlimited and versatile... colors, matching, textures, light, sound, cause and effect, senses, blending sounds, functional living skills, social skills. They can be used for lower levels as well as higher levels depending on the needs of the students. The tools and items provided can be used for years to come and will greatly enhance the sensory learning area we have started in my classroom.
