In our classroom we are in needs of two things. The first thing we need is books on our reading level. Because of so many school closures in the past, most of the students in room 105 are behind in reading. This year I have started using book bags for students to take home books on their reading level to read with their parents. Students are really gaining academically by doing this! The problem is our classroom doesn't have books above a level D. By funding this project it would mean all students could read on the level they need to! The second need in our classroom is a loom. Our classroom loves to help and engage in our community. At Christmas we held a school wide toy drive for the salvation army. One way we could connect with our community is to make rugs with a loom. In the classroom this loom can be used as a center that kids weave t-shirt strips. This will also help with fine motor skills! When we get a t-shirt rug finished we can mail it to a veteran, a shut in, or someone that is struggling. There is so many hurt people because of COVID all around us. Teaching students empathy, giving, and love during this time is important. As teachers we not only teach students how to read but we also teach them to love others. When you fund this project you will be helping students learn to do both!
