Sensory play helps my students learn, build language, promote social interaction, and develop motor skills. By providing opportunities to explore in different ways, students with Autism discover how they learn best. Sensory play also helps develop and enhance memory and improves students' problem-solving skills! The lighted sensory table and liquid floor tiles will be a fun way for my students to promote social interaction and body awareness while actively discovering how they like to learn best. The additional smaller items requested will help to support and enhance academic learning by supporting students' self-discovery experiences, experiences they have missed out on while being out of the classroom environment these past couple of years. The majority of my students are in Kindergarten and the pandemic has robbed them of in-school learning experiences before this current school year. They have a lot of catching up and this project could help make it easier for them to explore the world around them and to foster a love for discovery.
