Makey Makey: Learning Through Hand-On Activities

Funded Feb 8, 2022

Thank you for funding my classroom project. The students initially thought the Makey Mkaey was weird. It probably didn't help that the box has bananas on it. The students have had so much fun with Makey Makey. We have explored circuits and how they work. Students have explored what materials are conductive by creating circuits with different materials and that for a circuit to work there has to be a ground/earth. Students also sketched a drawing and played music with Makey Makey. They had to make a drawing that when connected it create four distinct sounds. Makey Makey provided different types of pianos so that students had choices for different sounds. We will also use Makey Makey to create interactive poster boards. Students will be using knowledge gained from using Makey Makey and will use Scratch to create a poster board to share information with the class. There will be touch points that students will create touch points using Makey Makey that will cause an action to happen on Scratch. The Students in my class have really enjoyed the hands-on activities. It has helped them make connections on how electrons operate. It has really brought a lot of life and sound to my classroom.”

With gratitude,
