Funded Sep 29, 2022The installation of hydroponics systems shows a new horizon for the gardens carried out by the City's schools. It is an innovative, efficient and sustainable method of producing food in urban settings, a technique used to grow plants using mineral solutions instead of agricultural soil.
The development of hydroponic gardens in schools is part of the School Gardens project carried out by the Green Schools Program of NYC, which promotes the implementation of the garden as a didactic resource for teaching and research.
Thanks to the hydroponics project, the students know where the food they eat at home comes from, they learn to take care of the crops and to select nutrients, which are added in a solution rich in minerals, and thus they can address different educational contents, through experience and contact with plants.”
With gratitude,
