My style of teaching is Project Based. This is especially important in theatre education. Students learn theatre by doing theatre. In order for my students to be able to achieve not only proficiency but increase that proficiency over time, it is necessary to create new projects every year to allow for individual student abilities and growth. Since our program is in it's infancy, we need to develop a very specific kind of library for student study and research. I have selected texts which are standards in the industry and that students will likely encounter in college. The more they learn, the better our productions will be which is a huge benefit to the entire school, but, even more importantly, students who complete this theatre program will be able to obtain theatre scholarships to further their education in any field they choose or, alternatively, be able to go straight to work as a technician in a regional theatre. The supplies I am requesting will make our classroom design projects possible and more professional. With these supplies students will be able to learn basic drawing, drafting and designing skills as well as increase their understanding and skill in acting and designing in all areas of theatre production.
