During the pandemic many students became disengaged from learning while they were at home. It is our job to bring these students back up to speed so they can continue to have success in school. Students who didn’t have access to reliable internet had even more difficulty keeping up and many of those students are in our district. I am a reading specialist and my numbers are ever increasing since the pandemic. When students come to my classroom they know we are going to learn while having fun. With that comes high costs to keep switching out my learning activities and keep motivation high. When my students come to my Title I reading classroom they need a hands on learning experience. I buy most of my learning materials through Teachers Pay Teachers but that leaves me with large ink costs for just a few games for my students. The games keep them interested and excited to come to my class to learn. There are countless other games and activities I’ve seen teachers on social media platforms use to increase engagement using other consumables and materials. Many times I skip over the idea because I don’t have that material in my classroom and can’t go purchase it myself. These items will be used in many different ways to promote a hands on learning experience for my students.
