Covid-19 has caused havoc on all of our lives and this includes the lives of our children. Many of my students are very young and have not known what a regular school year is supposed to look like. The inconsistencies that my students have had to suffer through due to Covid-19 have caused them to be extremely behind where they should be. Both my special education and my regular education students are several grade levels below where they should be because of Covid-19 and inconsistencies in learning. Many children learn more when they are capable of learning with hands-on activities and manipulatives. These students do not have what is necessary at home to learn hands-on and hands-on activities are very limited at school as well. These materials will allow my students to utilize many different learning styles and will help bridge the gap in their knowledge from the effects of Covid-19. As a new teacher, all I want for my students is for them to learn and for them to enjoy learning. Many of them are at a point where they do not enjoy learning because they have yet to be in a consistent learning environment. It is difficult for students to have consistency with everything that has gone on during this pandemic and this includes either not having the learning materials or not being able to use them for fear of transferring germs. My goal through this project is to encourage learning through many different learning styles using these hands-on activities and manipulatives.
