  • Doing Science Beneath the Clouds

    Funded Mar 5, 2024

Thank you so much for bringing the clouds to my classroom!! It was such a joy to watch the reactions of students from each class come in for the first time. Many asked if it was 'for real', if I was going to keep these, and wondered HOW I did it, or why. I was pleased to share the news of your generosity and that the covers were so easy to install that I did it myself the moment they arrived so I could surprise them.

Adding the clouds changed the light in the room without making it dark, so we could use microscopes, dissections, and other lab activities. I had previously installed string lights to use on days when we work on paper or computers because many of the students and I prefer lower light. When I used the fluorescent lights they would complain of how harsh it was, and once I placed the cloud covers in place those complaints stopped. They have a calming effect, but they also have eliminated my headaches. I noticed within the first week that I wasn't reaching for Tylenol in the morning per usual because my head was pounding. I'm sure some of my students share the same relief and we are grateful.

Many thanks for helping me add a uniqueness to my room that also has huge health benefits. Without your generosity this would not have been possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • Amped Up Anatomy

    Funded Aug 14, 2023

Thank you so much for this opportunity to close the gap post Covid times. My class will have a richer experience with Anatomy thanks to this project. Difficult concepts can be brought to life with the lab and equipment that will be purchased. Inspiring the next generation through engaging education.”

    With gratitude,

  • More Microscopes for Our Students

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thanks to donations like yours our project was funded!! We appreciate your generosity and the microscopes came just in time for a hair and fibers unit in Forensics. We had just spent the week before struggling with some old equipment when these new microscopes came. They were so easy to use and the quality of the images is amazing.

We were able to use microscopes around the room instead of just by an outlet which allowed more students to access them at the same time. This also made it easier for our students in wheelchairs to use, quite possibly for the first time.

My seventh graders have been so intrigued with this new microscopic world. Many students now ask to use the new microscopes if they finish their work early. Students are exploring some of the items throughout our room and discovering new things. This funded project has enhanced my science room tremendously and had a huge impact on their outlook on science.”

    With gratitude,

  • More Hands-on for Morrison

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

Your generous purchase made a huge impact on our students. Students were thrilled when the items arrived. The items arrived quickly and the process was very easy.

In my middle school classes we used dominos to help determine velocity. Forensics solved cases using case files and a lab in each of our remaining units: glass, toxicology, gunshot residue and poison analysis

Thank you for supporting our kids. Hands-on experiences give students an experience to relate the information back to and that is what they will remember.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

I chose materials that we need in my classroom to optimize their engagement and learning. Students have spent far too much time on their computers and working/not working solo in light of COVID-19, I want them to work cooperatively in groups to solve problems and analyze data. The newest science class at our school has quickly become the most requested, Forensics, and the one I have the least materials for. Much of my list is to enrich this class with kits for several units. Students are more invested when they have a purpose so the materials I chose each put the students in the role of an investigator of a crime.
