To help my students learn amid the pandemic, here are a few things I could use. Hands-on and engaging math manipulatives and activities. Sadly, due to being virtual off and on the last couple of years my students are not all loving and grasping many grade level math standards. Students in early childhood learn best being able to not only see a math lesson, but, be able to manipulate and get their hands on resources. I believe having a more engaging way to teach math will help close this learning gap. To make the upcoming units more engaging, my students would love: coins for their own personal toolboxes. They use these many ways whether through games with a partner, showing me they understand coins various ways, or practicing making change. We would be able to use the write on number lines throughout the year as well with number stories, skip counting, patterns, and so much more. Students would enjoy the various math games and activities which we would use during workstations. Headphones would help for students using their Chromebooks working on Happy Numbers and Rocket math. We have an upcoming measurement unit where the students would be able to not only see capacity and weight but actively see for themselves. To bring my dream learning activities come to life I would love to receive hands on games and manipulatives for whole group math and math rotations. My students would be so thankful as well!
