The items I have requested for my dramatic play center for my pre-k classroom will help my students with social-emotional growth, language, and cognitive development all of which have been impacted recently by the pandemic. Children being isolated, wearing masks, and the inability to see and communicate with their peers have shown to be detrimental effects of the pandemic to children. The items I am seeking will support language development because it promotes expressive language while they are interacting with other students. In addition, it will help children work through different emotions while they are role-playing. Children can process their inner thoughts and emotions through dramatic play. It will also promote conflict resolution and help kids consider others’ perspectives as they recognize various roles. Additionally, these items will promote students with abstract math and print. For example, by playing grocery store students will be exposed to print on labels and numbers using money. I am confident that these developmentally appropriate materials will continue to spark a love of learning in my class by enhancing the learning environment. I look forward to watching my students learn and grow by these manipulatives.
