Providing my students with a safe, comfortable space is always my top priority throughout the unknowns of this pandemic as a Title 1 teacher. I like to have a fun area in my classroom where students can express themselves. Providing an instant camera photo spot in my room will allow for students to interact with one another in a positive environment. My students’ ability to use numbers and operations will follow them throughout their math careers. Because of the inconsistency throughout the last three years, my students really struggle with place value & relating decimals and fractions to one another. These place value dice and fraction/decimal tile kits would give my students a hands-on experience when working with these concepts. Being able to watch plants grow in the classroom & to experience matter under a digital microscope would make matter & life science units come to life for my students, quite literally. Our space unit is another unit that can be difficult to portray in a hands-on way that is meaningful. Using this Sun, Earth & Moon model would help my students to understand the difference between rotation and revolution of the Earth which would in turn help explain what causes the constellations to appear and disappear throughout the year.
