One of the best ways for me to support my students during these difficult times is to get a book into their hands. What better book to read at home, knowing your friends and fellow classmates are reading the same book, than S.E. Hinton’s timeless classic, The Outsiders? I would love to add to the books I already have and use yearly, but I only have a ‘well-loved’ class set, so I am not able to send the books home with the kids when it’s necessary for students to distance learn. Having enough copies of The Outsiders to let the kids continue to read at home, without interruption during virtual learning, would make this novel study even better! Our novel study of The Outsiders meets my students where they are and then enriches their language and reading development. Students absolutely love this book!
