My third grade students are in need of manipulatives for hands-on learning, STEM projects, and a diverse library of books. The use of manipulatives will allow my students to become actively engaged in discovery through the learning process. Most of my students are hands-on learners and would benefit from the differentiated math games. Incorporating STEM projects into our classroom can foster ingenuity and creativity. It will allow my students to build resilience and become problem solvers. The puzzles, snap circuits, and LEGO will allow my students to be creative and think outside of the box. It also gives my students an opportunity for collaboration with their peers. The playdoh will help my students build their fine motor skills, an area in which they are lacking. Due to the pandemic, these students haven’t had as many opportunities to build their fine motor skills. A diverse library of books will meet the needs of my third graders who are all at different educational levels. I will use the picture books to teach a variety of topics such as cause and effect, main idea, and area and perimeter. By using picture books, it provides my students with real life experiences and helps build their language skills. They will also be beneficial to my ELL students as it helps them bridge the concepts and language that they are trying to build. The pandemic has greatly impacted my students' learning. I have students at different instructional levels (ranging from 1st to 6th grade). Funding this project will allow me to provide students with much needed skills they can take forward in their lives.
