  • Getting Arranged and Organized: Music Literature for the Performing Arts

    This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and one other donor.
Storage and organization is one of many life skills that I preach to my students on a daily basis. My skills that I teach my classroom go beyond the notes on the page and I really try to emphasize the daily importance of different life skills, such as staying organized. My students are always asking for extra copies of music, especially if they are absent from school or just need another copy. These storage items would give my students an easy way to find the right part of music they play in class. In my Jazz Bands, Concert Bands, and Marching Band I see 75+ different students total who all use sheet music to perform many different genres and styles of music. Combine all 75+ students with 7 class periods and many different pieces of music and there is a huge need to stay organized. With these file folders and cabinet shelves, my students will easily be able to find and locate their music for Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Concert Band. My students would also be able to safely store their music in these shelves and their music would also have a second home away from home. The best way to teach life skills such as staying organized, is to show my students that there is a safe place to keep and store important classroom materials.
