  • Give the Gift of Speech-Language Improvement via Snacks!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

We are fortunate to have been able to receive this donation, as it has been very helpful to my students on the spectrum. My students are so grateful and thankful for the snacks provided! They are enjoying the snacks so much!

We have been able to use the snacks to help improve the chewing and texture skills of different snacks/foods for my students during meal times and snack times. The snacks have also been used as incentives at the end of an activity.

    Next steps for my students:

To continue working on their chewing skills and improve their tolerance of different texture snacks/foods.

We appreciate you for your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ericka

  • Experiencing Sensory Fun With Arts and Crafts While Adding Language!

    Funded Sep 16, 2022

My students have been using the the resources to make connections to different themes and holidays we have throughout the school year.

For example, from September 15 to October 15 it was Hispanic/Latinx heritage month. We reviewed some famous Hispanic singers and different instruments they use or we heard in their music/songs. With the materials we were able to make some instruments, like maracas. My students were vibrant and excited when presented with the materials (popsicle sticks, beads, tissue papers, scissors) to make their own maracas.

Currently we are working on winter themes where we are doing a lot of cut and paste activities. The materials come in handy as we are doing the cut and paste activities and as we continue to make connections about winter.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ericka

These iPads will be used during my students lesson's to enhance their speech and language skills. This will include expressive, receptive and pragmatics language. My students benefit from technology usage, as it creates a way for them to participate in various activities. For instance, my non-verbal students can participate during a reading activity with APPs on the iPad (i.e. LAMP). They can learn to request for their basic wants (i.e. eat, drink, bathroom, etc.) and needs (i.e. music, Play-Doh, etc.) via an APP. My semi-verbal students can learn to use language consistent via technology. All my students love learning through technology and because they are visual and auditory learners they thrive when technology is in place. By donating to our project, you will not only help improve my student's communication skills, but you will also help them reach their potential and enhance their overall lives.
