  • Hands-On, Impactful Learning Through Growing a Pollinator Garden

    Funded Mar 24, 2025

I, absolutely, cannot thank you enough for your generosity! Not only will the kiddos be excited to prepare, plant, and watch our garden grow, but, hopefully, they will carry on the lessons they learn within their own families and as adults. They will learn that they are capable of helping the Earth and making a difference. Your kindness will have a ripple effect! Thank you for making a difference in my students’ lives!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Heath

  • Empowering Students Through Growing Gardens

    Funded Aug 13, 2023

Your donations helped provide the students with learning experiences that will last most the school year. The students researched information about plants, seeds, soil, flowers, and vegetables. They were then able to complete a task that ultimately ended in planting seeds and sprouts growing.

The students were amazed and excited about the hands-on experience. Many have enjoyed getting to see the progress of the growing plants. As the cooler weather effects the plants, the excitement will begin again when we prepare our spring garden.

This experience has created an excitement for nature and gardening that will, hopefully, inspire many of them to grow their own food in sustainable ways in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Heath

  • Let's Create Rhythms and Keep Beats With Everyday Life Items!

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

Thank you so much for funding my project! The kiddos will enjoy the active, hands-on activities while learning musical concepts. This project not only supports their learning of musical concepts but promotes being active and applying learning to objects they have at school and many have at home. Thank you for making a huge difference for our my students.”

  • Jam, Move, & Read Music With Bucket Drumming

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

Again, thank you so much for funding my project! The resources have added a lot of fun and engagement to our Music classroom! We have used our buckets, mallets, drum sticks, and more to practice keeping a steady beat, playing rhythms, and working with the music staff. In addition to building music concepts, it is also practice in gross motor skills.

The students were so excited to see the materials. Initially, I kept the materials in their shipping boxes to help build suspense. Many would ask regularly what the boxes contained. I told them, "You'll see...". They were so excited to see the buckets revealed. The drumsticks also peeked their excitement as that is something they regularly see some of their favorite musicians play.

Each year, I will introduce my kindergarteners to the "how-to" of bucket drumming. They learn how to properly hold mallets and drumsticks as well as how different parts of the drums make different pitches and tones. They play simple rhythms and play-alongs. First graders will build on this by practicing reading quarter notes, paired eighth notes, and quarter rests and by playing these on their drums to create rhythms. I hope to also build on this further by having the children play an entire song on the bucket drums.

I, and the children, appreciate your support greatly! In a state that fails to fund education adequately, your donations make a tremendous difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Heath

Bucket drumming will allow my students to complete many standards. This includes reading music and creating musical notations to create rhythms. Students will develop motor skills as they learn basic drumming techniques all while having fun producing music. This activity will keep students highly engaged as it allows for a lot of movement and requires focus to read music notes or keep a steady beat. The pandemic resulted in many children not using their motor skills as much as they would in school. With some missing dedicated time to Physical Education and Music, and with mainly virtual assignments on an electronic device, many children have been less active. Bucket drumming allows for fine motor skill development when holding drumsticks and also large motor development in arm movements to create sound. It is highly active! Another result of the pandemic is that many children missed the opportunity to play instruments. Bucket drumming allows them to play in an exciting way. Many children also missed opportunities to work as a team, be encouraging and supportive, and be patient. Since bucket drumming will be a whole class activity, it will require each child to do their best for our whole “band” of bucket drums. Students will work together to produce the correct rhythms, beats, and songs. This may be challenging for some students, so children will get practice in being patient and supporting their classmates. Finally, bucket drumming shows children that they can create music by turning ordinary things into instruments. So, even when they are at home, they can still make music!
