  • Literature Spangled American History

    I teach 5th and 6th graders reading and language arts. The most excited I have seen them this year, is when we got out brand new books! In this day when so many children are overly enamored with technology, it is refreshing to see kids appreciate handheld books.

    Here are a few of the many benefits of the books we received. We are learning to distinguish between diverse genres. We are boosting our creativity as readers and writers. The thing I am the most excited about is the success my students are having in recognizing and analyzing good story structures. The books you provided will go a long way in helping me accomplish those and many other goals.

  • Fall in Love with Reading

    My students have loved experiencing the new books you so generously provided for our classroom. They are reading with enthusiasm and increasing their vocabulary as well as the ability to comprehend what they read well. Having enough books has made it possible for kids who have been absent to catch up with missed days due to illness. Additionally; just the feelings of holding a brand new book, smelling the fresh clean pages and knowing you don't have to rush through it in order to share with other students are priceless. When a child has to settle for using old and torn books with yellowed pages falling out, he or she can feel uninspired and unworthy of nice things. Your blessings can truly make a difference for children. Thank you!”

When a child is excited about a book, they want to take it everywhere they go. Having enough copies of interesting literature to share with students will make those opportunities happen. As we discuss these stories, we can foster the love of reading for years to come. Only good books allow us to go anywhere and be anyone.
