The overhead projector and translucent materials will make a difference in my students learning because it will enhance, captivate, and allow the students to carry out and live in their imagination. The manipulatives will provide a variety of textures, shapes, numerals, letters, and colors that will be enlarged on the wall when placed on the projector. The materials will provide other benefits for the students. For example, the students will be able to strategize, design, build, create patterns, or mix the materials. They will be able to explore how smaller shapes can be combined or stacked to create larger shapes or a completely new image. The students can also explore what happens when translucent colors are alone or layered. To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I could have them use pen, paper, or a table to draw out a strategy of what they would design on the projector. The expectation would be the students drawing what materials they would use on the projector, along with drawing what they think the projected result on the wall would be of their creation. This allows the students to practice and deepen their critical thinking skills. This presents them with the If (I use these items) then (this will be the outcome) thought process. When they return to in-person learning, they would be able to test their blueprint and see the actual outcome.
