Basic Phonemic Awareness and Phonics skills are the foundation of Reading. The majority of my students start first grade with a need for each of these skills. Manipulating letters and words gives my students the ability to learn these skills more easily and retain what they have learned. Each item I have chosen gives my students the hands-on learning style that is most effective in Early Childhood Education. In order to become a better reader Phonemic Awareness and Phonic skills are a must. Learning these skills set a firm foundation for the students' future education.
