Engaging Resources for Medically Fragile Kids
Funded Sep 7, 2022As a reminder, I work one-on-one with hospitalized, medically fragile students, and my students can be in any grade level (K-12). Through your generosity I was able to purchase some wonderful new materials, and I am slowly putting them to use.
One exciting new product that I was able to incorporate into my English Language Development instruction was the No English Newcomer Pack Mega Bundle created by Skybyrd Teacher Resources. These materials jumpstarted my middle school student's acquisition of English by allowing her to use technology to interact with vocabulary and grammar through simple yet creative projects based on everyday vocabulary and sentence structures.
My kindergarten English learner greatly enjoyed the sorting-by-attribute activities that came with another product that I purchased through your generosity. These activities allowed her to acquire new vocabulary by using previously-learned skills.
I look forward to incorporating the other wonderful products that I was able to purchase as I begin working with new students this spring. As I've explained, my students are all at different levels, so I never know which materials will be most appropriate for their ages and stages of development. Thank you for equipping me with great new resources that are sure to engage my next group of students, no matter their background.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Tammy

Funded Sep 7, 2022Through your assistance, I was able to purchase products that engaged my students in both literature and online learning. Some products utilized more technology than others, but because they were all available digitally the entire learning process was simplified. I purchased quite a few products, but I'll highlight just a few here.
One product that I purchased was an accompaniment to the children's book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. With this product I was able to practice sequencing with my kindergarten student while engaging in English language development activities. Since the document is shareable through Google Slides, my student had the opportunity to manipulate the moveable images independently.
Other resources included the Reading Interactive Notebook and the Evidence Based Body Biography. My boys responded enthusiastically to the hands-on aspects of these activities, which allowed them to develop a deeper understanding of literary elements and character development while reading short stories such as "The Pod" and "Big Things Come in Small Packages."
I'm thrilled to have access to such high quality resources. Although due to my position as a hospital teacher I can only use the products with one or two students at a time, I can see that the engaging nature of the products is bearing much fruit.
Thank you so very much for your generosity!!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Tammy
