Covid has had a negative affect on the level of apathy and engagement we are seeing from our students. It has also negatively impacted anxiety levels in students creating concerns over missing school, family illness, on top of all the other stressors teenagers face. Under these circumstances school work and assessments become a monumental task that students try to avoid. Breakout boxes are a way to alleviate test anxiety, increase student engagement, and eliminate apathy in the assessment process. In addition, breakout boxes will allow students the opportunity to engage in skill building while demonstrating critical thinking and help them to conquer assessments.
