All of our students want an opportunity to learn art and how to use it to benefit them. Currently at our school we do not have an art program and I would like to start one. These art supplies would be the key in doing so. Art would help build the self-esteem that they so desperately need. As they progress, they will be able to do creative art projects as a team and independent work to build their creative wonder. They will be able to take these art projects with them and they will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but in their lives as well. These art supplies will play many roles in the library for the students. For example, for a lesson will be reading the book "Ish" by Peter H. Reynolds, and afterwards talk about his optimistic view of his expression of art. Then we would proceed and allow each student an opportunity to make an "Ish" drawing themselves and remind them to keep in mind optimism and being happy with who you are and what you can create. The goal is to give all students a chance to express themselves and help them cope with so much on their shoulders. And make the library a safe place for them at the school.
