I would like to thank you for your amazing and generous gift of science equipment, activities, and supplies for my 6th grade class. From the microscope to the weather station kits, my kids are seeing and will see the world through new and scientific eyes.
Together, we have explored plate tectonics by bring visual aids into the classroom and created a game to support and solidify our newly acquired knowledge. As we are entering our new unit on cells, the students are exploring the tiny microscopic world of life under a microscope. In conjunction with the microscope, the students are constructing and deconstructing the animal and plant cell models. The interactive mini human torso has been fascinating for them as they explore the components of the human body.

This classroom project was brought to life by Oklahoma State Department of Education.

My students have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and distance learning with 55% of my students still performing below grade level. The students have not been consistently given opportunities to experience science in the classroom, participate in hands-on learning, and to work collaboratively in labs. Active learning helps students solidify their acquisition of science concepts. You can change the trajectory of our 6th grade students by enhancing our science program! My project consists of enhancing the science curriculum with labs, models, kits, and hands-on learning. With these additional items my students will be able to bring science to life and increase their intellectual abilities.
