  • Providing Engaging Learning Experiences

    Funded Nov 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your gracious donation to my classroom. With the money you donated, I was able to purchase $800 worth of supplies and materials so my students did not have to. We have been able to participate in more interactive lessons (scavenger hunts, task card activities, etc.) because of the availability of needed supplies.

Students are appreciate because they are not having to buy extra supplies on their own. If they are missing a pencil, paper, or binder, I am able to provide it to them. Students also enjoy being able to use real Kleenex instead of rough toilet paper to blow their noses! Thank you again for your generous donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brantley

  • Algebra II Through Virtual Reality

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. These 2 Oculus Quest Headsets are helping my students understand exponential models and functions. One of the games I use in class takes the students through a pandemic, and they explore exponential growth functions and how viruses can spread rapidly. This virtual reality world is allowing my students to experience Algebra 2 in "real-life".

My students enjoy learning Algebra 2 in non-traditional manners. This technology allows them to get up and move around while still learning the material. All of my students, from the advanced to the special needs, have benefited from using these Oculus Quest Headsets. Thank you again for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brantley

Students always want to know how Algebra 2 can be used or how it relates to the "real world". The Oculus Quest 2 provides several virtual reality experiences where students can gain literal hands-on experiences with exponential functions, quadratic functions, linear functions, statistics, and systems of equations in everyday life. Students will be able to see how these mathematical concepts can relate to their everyday life and/or their future career. My school district has been fortunate to have been in-person throughout the majority of this pandemic, but we are still trying to close the gap from the little time that we were out. The attrition rates in math seem to be particularly high, and these thought-provoking games, that align closely with our Oklahoma math standards, will motivate them to learn and hopefully get them back on track sooner. My students will also enjoy learning with this innovative technology versus a more traditional approach.
