In my life skills classroom, the students are learning a variety of different skills that will help them in their adult life after graduating from high school along with the curriculum that is required in each classroom. The items in my project that include laundry detergent, laundry baskets, towels, and socks are going to be used to teach the students the process of doing their own laundry. The items in my project that include toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant(men and women), hair brushes, and hair ties will be used to teach the students about personal hygiene skills like brushing their teeth, putting on deodorant every day, and brushing their hair. The items in my project that include sorry, monopoly, krypto, Tenzi, Life, Clue, Apples to Apples, Phase 10, and battleship will be used to give the students opportunities to use/learn various social skills. Some of those social skills include working as a team, following the rules of different games, taking turns, learning how to win or lose a game and talking with students their age. The games will also be used for various math skills, such as learning how to pay for items, getting a paycheck, graphing skills, and counting skills. The items in my project that include mathlink cubes and building blocks will be used as manipulatives during math lessons. The items in my project that include playfoam, modeling clay, and squishy sensory shapes will be used for students that want something to fidget with during classes or hold on to something that helps with sensory skills. The items in my project that includes a time clock and set of money will be used to teach the students how to clock in and out of a job, earn a paycheck, budget their money for bills and other daily purchases.
