  • Start Each Day With Stem on Your Mind

    Funded Aug 19, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom. My student's will have many STEM related options to choose from when we are unable to be outside to play. I believe hands on learning in an early childhood classroom is essential for growth both academically and socially. I can't tell you how I appreciate your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tamera Krivanek

  • Learning at the Hands of a Kindergarten Student

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

I am so appreciative for the generosity shown by this donor. My classroom hasn’t had new manipulatives added in over 10 years. These new items will make my students so excited for learning. Thank you again for funding my grant for new classroom manipulatives of hands on learning supplies.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tamera Krivanek

  • Kindergarten Creations Deluxe

    Funded Aug 16, 2022

I am so thankful for your generosity. This will be my first year to use binders for my student's directed drawing creations. I am so excited to give these as end of year gifts to my parents. We just started them a year ago and this is wonderful. I have a hot glue gun that I have to push the glue thru to get it to work as the mechanism that pulls it thru doesn't work anymore. I buy one a year because that's all I can pay for. A really nice hot glue gun will be a tremendous help to my classroom. Thank you again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tamera Krivanek

  • Teaching the Brain Through Touch

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you so very much for funding my grant. I am very excited to receive my items and can't wait to show them to my current Kindergarten class and after school group of students.

I will take good care of these items so they last thru many years of students coming thru my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Tamera Krivanek

When writing this grant, I was reminded about a quote that was written by Robert M. Hutchins, which states that "The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives". One of my goals as an educator is to give my students opportunities and tools they need, that allows them to have ownership over their education. When students take ownership to have pride about what they are learning, they are more likely to develop a love of learning that continues throughout their lives. One way to help foster this love of learning is giving them materials and activities that are engaging, fun and hands-on. We want to make learning memorable no matter the subject. It is vital to their success in school for my students to fall in love with learning in Kindergarten. My 18 kindergarteners have been working hard to learn the fundamentals of reading and math. Despite most of their lives being lived through a pandemic and not getting the normalcy that previous classes have had, they have continued to grow and learn. They have made me extremely proud of what all they have already accomplished this school year. That being said, I have noticed the drop in assessment scores. My previous classes came with more of a firm foundation in their math and literacy skills. This grant would provide me with needed materials that would help close this gap. These materials would meet my students where they are in literacy and math. When children are provided with the needed materials that are also fun and engaging, it gives them a sense of accomplishment and ownership over what they are learning, teaching them to be a life long learner. Which in return sets them up for success in reading and math.
