Wow, where to begin? The tables I am requesting would be used for our students to learn and explore at as a community, while also building meaningful relationships and basic life long skills, such as sharing and problem solving. Skills that are lacking due to the pandemic and having to go back and forth with virtual learning. The tables would also take up less space in our classrooms, which in turn would give us more space for more learning experiences that are critical for pre-k age children: role playing, STEM, discovery, art, and so much more. The current desks that we have are just not age appropriate for four year old students to do these things. They are messy with the trays underneath them that catch every crumb dropped and every piece of trash they accumulate. They are way too tall for their 4 year old little legs and the kids can barely reach the top of the table to do their work or even simply reach a crayon. We need space to spread out, to have our supplies at the table so we can share, and to build relationships with our peers, and the desks we have aren't allowing this.
By donating to our project for new tables you would be providing our students with a space to build basic life skills, a comfortable relaxed work environment where they don't have to stand to complete a task which will help them to succeed in this already tough time throughout a pandemic. The past two years have been a difficult road for everyone, but why not make it easier in any way possible especially for these littles that have never had a normal school experience.
