  • Growing Through Play and Socialization

    Funded Aug 12, 2023

Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom. Through this donation, our classroom has seen incredible engagement in our play time. Students are loving the new materials and I have noticed great excitement for their time in centers each day.

Some of the items that the students are enjoying include using their imaginations to create amazing lego buildings, listening to stories and songs on the Tonies, and make believe play with items like dinosaurs and kitchen toys.

As the teacher, one of my favorite parts is the organization of our center time. Students can use the pocket chart to for reading and writing centers and the snap tubs are great for storing items and putting them away neatly. This helps students take ownership and responsibility in caring for our play center items. Each day I get to see the incredible things that students can do through working with their peers and imagining together. You are a huge part of that! Thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatch

  • Growing My Imagination Through Play

    Funded Nov 5, 2022

Thank you so much for the Tonie box and the character Tonies that go with them. My students were so excited to see the items arrive in our classroom and began listening to the boxes immediately. The students love following along with stories, singing to music or listening to information about a variety of topics on our Tonie box. It's so engaging and a great learning resource too. The students are making big connections between what they hear on the Tonie and what they see in books! Your donation has made such a big impact on the way my students engage with screen free media.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatch

  • Sensory Path and Play

    Funded Feb 5, 2022

I cannot put into words how excited I am to receive this grant for my students. I’m excited to create a place where students can go to help their body and brain through sensory and gross motor play. Not only will this be a fun interactive space for them, it will have benefits for their learning also! Thank you so much! My students are going to be thrilled!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hatch

Each day our students arrive with a variety of needs that greatly hinder their ability to learn. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, our students are spending more time on devices and less time with their bodies in motion. Students are missing out on rich sensory experiences and opportunities to explore with their five senses. As a result, we are seeing an increased need for sensory and gross motor experiences. Research shows that extended periods of time and reading on a device are changing the pathways of the brain. As a consequence, we are seeing an increase in a child's ability to regulate their bodies and emotions. Screen time is on the rise while gross motor skills are on the decline. The materials requested will create a sensory rich space for our students to develop their gross motor skills. Providing this area for our students will allow them to receive the sensory input they need to allow their brain to return to learning. This space will also allow students to increase their gross motor skills through a variety of exercises. This space will be available to students as needed throughout the day to give their brains and bodies an outlet. It will also be a great resource for us in the winter months when our gross motor time outdoors is limited due to weather. Our goal is to help our students reach their maximum learning potential and research shows that physical activity helps build academic focus and concentration.
