I’m writing this proposal to get flexible seating for my classroom. I am wanting to purchase wobble chairs for my rotation stations around my room and floor seats for my carpet for my students to use during MIRP time. I think they would truly benefit from flexible seating options in my classroom. As we know a lot of students are behind on multiple skills, and I believe that flexible seating will help them in multiple ways. First, a lot of my students have a lot of energy and have a hard time focusing that energy. Secondly, it would make my rotation and MIRP time even more enjoyable for them, and lastly, I think they would work harder and learn more having different seating options. I believe that flexible seating would make my class shine even brighter and be more successful in the future. First, most of my students have a lot of energy and cannot seem to focus setting on a regular chair. By having wobble chairs at my different rotation stations, the student would be able to focus by wobbling their chair and be able to keep their mind on the task at hand. Secondly, it will make rotations and MIRP more enjoyable for the students. They will want to go to the rotations more, cause in their eyes wobble chairs are better than regular chairs, almost like a novelty item. Same with MIRP, I believe they will look forward to sitting on them and reading longer. For my third graders, with the state test coming that is what they need the most, more time reading. Lastly, having the flexible seating will make the students work harder. They will want to use them and in doing so, they will finish their work, be practicing skills.
