The use of whiteboards is an integral part of my classroom. Our school is integrating AVID strategies into all of our classrooms this year. Currently my students are using small whiteboards that I cut myself out of a large sheet of whiteboard material. Larger whiteboards with graphs would provide them with more room to show their critical thinking process that we are focusing in the AVID classroom. AVID prepares students for success in high school and college while teaching students skills such as note-taking, organization, and studying skills. More importantly, AVID promotes critical thinking, working in collaborative groups, and peer tutoring. Utilizing collaborative structures in AVID provide students with the opportunity to work with different peers—from diverse backgrounds and with varying experiences—strengthens not only the class community, but enriches the learning experience for every student involved. By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Increased Students Engagement: Dry erase markers are just more fun than pencil and paper ... Promotes sharing with peers ... Increases class community ... Allows for a Quick Assessment ...
