  • 5th Grade Brain Builders

    Funded May 23, 2022

Thank you again for donating to my 5th grade classroom. Your donation purchased mind puzzles for my students to utilize when they need a break or have extra time after their work is completed. These puzzles are a great way for them to enjoy a break from the iPads & challenge their amazing brains! It was so enjoyable to see their excitement & fun reactions to the new materials. The 9 piece puzzles were a hit! Many of them had never seen or tried one before. They are so much more challenging that they appear & we look forward to hours of fun & challenging our minds.

    Thank you again!

    Sara Brown”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brown

  • Cozy Up Our 5th Grade Literacy Space

    Funded Mar 8, 2022

Words cannot express how much your donations have impacted our classroom. My 5th graders have several new spaces to relax & feel comfortable in while learning & reading. The spaces are used all day. We've even had to create a sign up for students to use our cozy spaces because they have become so popular. The large rug is big enough for a significant group of students & is placed at the front of the room for kids to gather during instruction.

When the materials arrived we happened to be near the office. The students saw the giant colorful rug & leather chairs as they were being delivered. Collectively as a class, they shared a moment of cheering & excitement knowing they'd arrived and soon would be delivered to our classroom. Their excitement continued as we worked together to unbox the materials & arrange our room with the new pieces.

Next week we are going to begin our final ELA unit which is Fantasy, specifically Fantasy Book Clubs. I am delighted that thanks to your generous donations, I now have more areas for the students to move about the room to meet with their clubs comfortably. Our 5th graders appreciate you!!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brown

Once our daily language arts lessons are complete, my students enjoy moving around the room to get comfortable during their independent work time. When I asked their input on what should be added to our classroom to help them learn comfortably, a large area rug was their number one choice. Comfortable seating, different lighting, and small lap desks were some of the other options that they felt would make the room feel more comfortable during their work time. Because our classroom is not carpeted, I feel a rug would help create more space for them to spread out more comfortably around the room.
