  • Seeing Through the Lens of SHS Digital Media

    Funded Nov 4, 2022

With your help we were able to purchase a Canon camera that has allowed us to capture moments with the student body to create memories, but also to give us practice in photography and editing. This has become a staple in our Digital Media class and has allowed the students to be approached by businesses in the community to do work for them outside of school.

These opportunities have opened up new avenues of careers and interests for students.

We could not have had these opportunities without your support and donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adams

  • MoveWELL in StilWELL

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

With your help, students are learning the importance of sleep and physical activity and can now track them thanks to the fitness bands. We have also utilized the jump ropes and are learning new and simple ways to get the heart rate up.

The students are more in tune with their activity and sleeping habits and LOVE when they get to utilize the jump ropes.

We are working on our jump rope skills and hope to master it by the end of the year, along with improving our sleep schedules.

    Thank you for your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adams

This classroom project was brought to life by Oklahoma State Department of Education.
I am developing Stilwell's first fitness/wellness program where we emphasize 5 pillars of health: how we eat, train, think, sleep and connect with others. Through our Health and Nutrition classes as well as our MoveWell Club that meets after school, we are able to incorporate these pillars through education and practice. With the purchase of fitness trackers, students will be able to track categories that aren't as easily visible, such as sleep stages and calories burned, and learn about other metrics such as heart rate maxes, ranges and averages. The jump ropes will be used for workouts in smaller spaces, since we typically use a classroom or go outside. They will learn that with a piece of equipment as small and simple as a jump rope, they can create a great workout for anywhere at any time. My goal as a health educator is to teach the young people in my community the value of a healthy lifestyle that creates positive changes within their generation and for generations to come.
