My classroom does not have lab balances. Students will be using balances to design their titration project and battery project. To help students access chemistry content like titration and battery, I support students in designing projects around these two units. For example, in the titration project, students collaborate with their peers to investigate the acidity level of beverages they consume at home. The end goal is to determine which beverage is the most acidic and worst for our teeth. For the battery project, students collaborate with their peers to build their own batteries. Afterward, they put together posters to show their battery reactions. Students will need to create solutions for the reactions. Lab balances will help them weigh the grams of their reactants.
