  • Literature for Life Skills

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

Thank you so much for funding my project! Your support of the readers in my classroom will be instrumental to their success this year and in the future. I can't wait to add these books to my classroom library and give my students the opportunities that good literature provides.

Thank you again for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Harvey

This classroom project was brought to life by Oklahoma State Department of Education.
It has been 14 years since our school has been able to add new novels to our curriculum. Since that time, many of our books have been lost, damaged, or have just worn out as they have been shared throughout our classrooms. We need to not only add some new titles for our small-group literature circles but also replace some of the classics that we read as a whole class. My students enjoy engaging with and talking about great literature. Their ability to read closely, have open discussions with their peers, and write clearly about what they have read are important life skills that they will need as they enter college or the workforce. The books that I have chosen will help students hone those skills. By providing access to classic literature and opportunities for small-group choice, I will be able to provide students with a well-rounded reading experience that includes both guided and independent study.
