To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I could use seating options that provide a comfortable and focused learning environment. Students have had the opportunity to experience school from the comfort of their homes, and for some it is hard to come back to a classroom setting. By providing my students with seating options for many different learning styles; it is my hope that each one will be able to find a spot in my room that is most conducive to learning. On my wishlist, I have standing table options and fidget bands for my kids who would like to be able to stretch and move a bit. I also have computer chair seating that will be used in group settings around large tables. I have included a futon that has a separated section in the middle to ensure students continue to have their own space while being in an area that makes them feel comfortable in my room and ready to learn. I have also included a rug and coffee table to better accommodate the students who choose to sit in the bean bag chairs I already have in my room. In my past few years of teaching, I have acquired many types of seating to help my students feel at ease while learning history, and this will help replace the items that have broken over the years and need to be replaced. Flexible seating has been such a positive change in our classroom and I am excited to be able to provide even more wonderful options for my students. Thank you for considering flexible funding for the students at Perkins-Tryon High School!
