Successful Academic and Social Emotional Learning in Kindergarten
Funded Aug 13, 2023A well stocked classroom matters so much. A lot of the time a material that suffers is books. It's not on any school supply lists and they are expensive. Having a well stocked library with engaging and age appropriate books is a secret and important tool in education. Children learn so much through listening to read aloud books. Narration, voice, vocabulary, letter sounds and predictive text. Studies continue to show that reading aloud to young children is one of the best indicators for academic success.
In addition to the books on my list, there were many other items that have promoted equal opportunities in my classroom as well as early reading interventions. Lamination sheets, cardstock and stikki clips are included in those items. As teachers, we work hard to use what we have in many creative learning ways. The items provided by your donations is among these.”

Funded May 9, 2023These materials were bought at the end of an academic year. I was so excited all summer to have them ready for a new class of learners. Students and parents were excited and intrigued to see these seating alternatives around the room. This year I am incredibly fortunate to have parents that are intrigued about their children's learning and learning styles.
The flexible seating options have provided my students with diverse opportunities to work in ways that allow their bodies to move or get comfortable when they don't have a desire to sit in traditional settings. In kindergarten, movement is so important and this seating has aided in the connection between that and the increase academic rigors of schools.”

Funded Nov 5, 2022Students are utilizing every material provided by the funding of this project. One specific material is the writing journals. These journals have not only allowed for the students to practice their handwriting, phonemic spellings and illustrations, but they have also allowed students, parents and myself to see the progress and growth.
The funding provided a lot of items to my classroom. The students opened our packages together and were enthused to imagine all the things we could create and do. Some materials were things they had never seen or used before. It created engaging and exciting uses.
Now that we are at the end of the year, the materials donated have contributed to huge growth and prepared the students for first grade. We are finishing up end of the year growth and projects using many of the materials that we were able to receive bulk of in order to have enough to finish the year out with supplies we needed.”

Funded Feb 7, 2022Thank you for your donations to our classroom. The students used them to explore through hands on play in a way that helped deepen their understanding of their materials. Many of the materials were focused on their social emotional development that has been impacted by Covid-19. They used the items to positively interact with their classmates as well as express themselves while learning.
The students immediately noticed their new items, especially the puppets in our reading centers. These puppets were used to say things to classmates when they were struggling to express themselves and used as safe listeners when practicing their reading skills.
The classroom mailbox fostered leadership in our classroom by providing them the chance to independently file their work. I am so grateful to see the students developing in this area after so many missed out on time in school.
These are only a couple items out of the many that changed students behaviors and abilities. The benefits of your donations are appreciated and will continue to impact future learners. Thank you!”
