Most of these items are supplies that my students with disabilities should be able to use everyday, but either have to share or stagger the use of because there aren't enough supplies to go around (such as noise-muffling headphones, which are necessary during loud activities, like school assemblies). Ideally, each of my students would have their own supplies for daily use. Not only could that help them be to be more successful in school, it could help them to be healthier as they could avoid spreading germs. Every single one of my students has been heavily impacted by COVID-19. Since the beginning of the school year, a vicious cycle has developed: every few weeks, I feel like students are making strides in academics or social skills, then bam! A few students are home for weeks due to getting sick. The school is closed for a week due to COVID-19. I'm out sick for days myself. When we get back to school, it feels like the class is back to square-one. Gains are lost and students fall further behind academically. The items on my list will help my students be able to learn by peaking their interests, meet their sensory needs, and help them self-regulate and focus on schoolwork. Thank you for your consideration.
