I am honored to teach science to a group of 69 fifth and sixth graders. With two of these students having just come to America this school year and a handful of ELL students, I'm excited to utilize Spanish-English/English-Spanish translators. Science terms are often hard to translate and explain and I do not speak Spanish myself, so these could be an incredible asset to my students. With this being our first year back in the classroom post-COVID, I have seen an increase in behavioral issues. I have one student that has a 504 requiring that he has breaks and snacks periodically. I have two or three more students that I am convinced will have 504s soon. I have many students that have a hard time sitting still and some that have a hard time dealing with their emotions. They sometimes become very frustrated with the rigors of school. This rug, bean bag, fidgets, snacks, decor, sensory cushions, and chair bands will help me create a relaxing cool-down corner and help students focus in class. Of course, COVID and seasonal illnesses are a concern in every school throughout the nation. I'm excited to use these antibacterial wipes will help me continue to provide my students with a healthy, sanitary learning environment.
