Students on my caseload are often described as outgoing, energetic, and caring young adults with strong personalities. Most of them are learning how to make positive choices and how to integrate into peer groups. Although they have not mastered these skills yet they are trying hard every single day. Many of the students I work with have life circumstances that make it difficult to make it through the entire school day yet they are continually showing up to give another day their best efforts. These students are navigating a continually changing world and this is not easy. I am continually impressed by their efforts to connect with peers, and teachers, and be successful even when it does not come naturally. They will use these tools and snacks to help motivate them to stay on task, stay in class, and allow them the necessary breaks needed to help them feel like they are successful in school.
