Education designed to facilitate the learning of individuals who, for a wide variety of reasons, require additional support and adaptive pedagogical methods in order to participate and meet learning objectives in an educational program. Reasons may include (but are not limited to) disadvantages in physical, behavioural, intellectual, emotional and social capacities. Educational programs in special needs education may follow a similar curriculum as that offered in the parallel regular education system, however they take individuals’ particular needs into account by providing specific resources (e.g. specially trained personnel, equipment, or space) and, if appropriate, modified educational content or learning objectives. The following are the breakdown of the items ordered and how they will assist with my students:
1. Students require a visual schedule to help support their structure and understanding of what activities are scheduled for the day. The students on the autism spectrum often become very upset (physical meltdown) when their schedule changes. The use of visual schedules assist with the prevention of many meltdowns. (Items ordered: Original HP 65 Black/Tri-color Ink Cartridges VELCRO , Thermal Laminating Pouches , Scotch Thermal Laminator)
2. Students struggle with fine motor skills. The following items are used strengthen their fine motor skills and to adapt to various writing modalities (Dry Erase Markers are used on their desks so they can practice writing and erase, Pencil Grips and writing tablets, playdough).
3. My students have various sensory needs. The following items assist with addressing these needs. (Stretch and Squeeze Stress Balls, Fidget Toys and Textured Sensory Toys)
4. The following items assist with modifying the students curriculum. (Rainbow Counting Bears With Matching Sorting Cups, Montessori Preschool Busy Book, Number and Alphabet Flash Cards )
