These materials will help students access a more well-rounded education. Parents these days are largely concerned about social/emotional learning, which is one of my classroom focus. The social games, emotional learning resources, and group activities will help achieve this goal. While my students don't engage in much formal "at home learning", I could use these materials for distance learning in the case of another "distance learning" day. I could also model online resources that are similar to our physical classroom resources. Many of the resources I requested were chosen specifically with individual students in mind. I have many busy body learners, who struggle with physical boundaries and staying in a learning space. The cushions are to help provide the students with a physical idea of a boundary during large group time, as well as a cushy place to sit. The barrier is to help create a visual learning space, so students recognize where they can stand or sit during large group times. Because of staffing issues, I don't have the staffing necessary to chase down students during large group time. This would help students self-regulate and create boundaries. Finally, some of my resources were chosen with the express intent of making learning fun! I want my students to love learning, and I've found this is best done through exciting games (like the Honeybee Tree), engaging activities (like the mystery box), and hands-on learning (like the emotion slider). These are all hands-on, engaging activities that provide concrete ways for my students to learn.
