  • Quiet Voices Just Got Louder

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your generous donations. My students greatly appreciate the Qball as it is a way for them to express their feelings and for their voices to be heard. The students truly love using the Qball to read, play four corners, and give directions to the class. It has truly been a staple and I thank you for that. Your thoughtfulness and compassion have truly been felt. Giving to these students really does make a difference in their lives and in the classroom. Once again, thank you so much for donating to our project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Downer

  • I Show, You Show, We Show

    Funded Feb 16, 2022

First and foremost, on the behalf of myself and my 7th graders, we would like to say thank you for your kind words and generous donations. Bringing new technology into the classroom has been more exciting for my students than I thought. I received the document camera around the same time my students were heavily into state test prep. This document camera has helped my students learn by focusing their attention to the board to read state test passages as well as short and extended responses using the R.A.C.E strategy.

What excited my students the most about using the document camera is it has given them the opportunity to show their work to the class and explain it as if they were the teacher. This new technology has definitely kept my students engaged because they always wanted to use it to broadcast their work. Students realized this was a modern version of the projector that they used to use in school when they were younger.

A few of my students has warmed up to this technology by volunteering to display their work on the camera. It's not easy going up to the front of the classroom to show and explain your work to the entire class. Other students are more eager to come to the board and read. I've been able to get more students to participate and get out their seats instead of sitting down for the whole class period.

My scholars and I really do appreciate your support and donation to our classroom. We couldn't have done it without your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Downer

The document camera will help my students who are visual learners. I will use it to demonstrate my mini lesson for my students. Students can use it to show their answers to the class and explain why so the class can learn from their peers. Or as a class we can show what we collaborated together through this document camera. I want to ensure that my students with disabilities are met with the resources that will help them succeed in English Language Arts. For example, my students with Dyslexia will use these reading strips to help them focus on one sentence at a time. This way they won't feel overwhelmed by reading a story.
