I have students coming to my classroom that are in need of sensory diets in order to help regulate behavior. I also have students returning to my classroom who have ADHD, autism, and other special needs which require a versatile classroom with a variety of sensory options. I also have peer tutors who maintain better focus with the student they are helping when they have something to fidget with while they are working. This helps to reduce anxiety, as well. A light table will be motivating for one-on-one work, as well as for sensory breaks. Several options available to use at the table will keep students interested in the needed sensory input, foster their creativity, and support their need to ground themselves in their environment. Noise cancelling headphones will help all students to focus, especially when unexpected behaviors threaten to disrupt classroom learning. They will also help to give students a break when they need to escape the typical noise in a busy classroom environment. Additionally, they will foster engagement in activities involving technology.
