Our students need a new variety of texts to read during one-on-one and small group instruction. It is often difficult to find sets of 6 books, on specific reading levels, that will engage students. As the instructional coach at Sally Mauro Elementary, I am looking to build our leveled library with some fresh, new books. We would like to make our collection of books more diverse and covering a range of reading levels, including challenging students that are at or above grade level. Our teachers and staff will use these books during one-on-one and small group instruction. The focus during this time is to help students improve their independent reading levels, while focusing on specific fluency and comprehension skills. Students benefit greatly from one-on-one and small group instruction, and we need additional resources to continue to help our students make progress.
