Students will feel great when playing on a jazz mouthpiece. They will be better heard, they will stylistically be better, and they will produce a better sound for their instrument in jazz band. Having the right equipment I believe will help them with their social-emotional learning. It will be less frustrating than trying to get to the level they want to be while still on a stock or classical mouthpiece. Students are expected to practice at home and at school and I believe will have a better time practicing with the right equipment. This mouthpiece is very professional and will help students to feel like they are taken care of and will help them sound better, quicker. Having a jazz mouthpiece for our saxophones to play on will make a world of difference for those that don't currently have them. When you have brass, drums, and amplified electronics playing with you at the same time in a jazz band - the saxophones are very hard to hear. When you put on a jazz-specific mouthpiece, the sound starts to cut through and the students can be heard much more clearly. They will use it at school, at home, and at concerts/festivals. The students will have a more unified sound, will feel more confident in their playing, and will sound more like jazz musicians. We take jazz seriously at our school and we always aim to sound as professional as possible and it really starts with setting up the students with the right equipment. Having this project funded will really help those who can't afford to get a jazz mouthpiece to know what their sound really can be be like with the right equipment.
